- Careless Driving with a fine

You have 3 options when you receive these tickets:
a) Pleading Guilty.
b) Pleading Guilty with an Explanation
c) Trial / Not Guilty
If you pay the ticket this means you are pleading guilty to the Careless driving charge! And on top of the fine you will be receiving 6 demerit points, and that means an increase in you insurance.
Even if you go with the guilty with an explanation plea, it is not a trial, and will not be eliminated off of your record with this option, the ticket may be slightly reduced at the most, and the reduction is only on the fine not the point!
2. Careless driving tickets without a fine attached.
This means that you do not have the option of pleading guilty and paying the fine, in this case you must go to the court and once you’re convicted of Careless Driving charge, you could face fines of up to $1000.00, even Jail time of up to 6 months, and a driver’s license suspension of up to two years.
A guilty plea of a Careless Driving will cause your insurance rates to increase considerably high causing you hundreds or thousands of dollars a year and may raise you to a high risk bracket for auto insurance, and some may even refuse to insure you, even if your record is completely clean other than that one Careless Driving ticket.
